More than three years after the body of a 41-year-old woman was found in a suitcase in Toronto, the trial has begun for the woman accused of her murder.
Carita Jackson has been charged with the second-degree murder of Varsha Gajula. The Crown alleges, sometime between Aug. 21 and 23, 2021, Gajula was murdered in Jackson’s west end apartment.
An autopsy revealed the Caledon woman died from blunt force trauma and multiple stab wounds to her head and neck.
