The Ontario lawyer accused of involvement in a violent transnational drug ring headed by Canadian Olympian Ryan Wedding was granted bail on Tuesday.
Deepak Paradkar – the so called “cocaine lawyer” – is fighting extradition to the U.S. for his alleged role in the billion-dollar drug network. The 62-year-old is accused of advising the group on the murder of a federal witness.
Supreme Court Justice Peter Bawden said Paradkar would be released on $5.2-million bail, with his wife and wife’s cousin acting as sureties.
Global’s Sean O’Shea reports.
