Opioid crisis: 2 Indigenous people die from possible overdose in Montreal

Along with another member, a well-known woman among Montreal’s Indigenous community died on Saturday morning. Though police have not commented on the cause of deaths, they are allegedly a result of opioid overdoses, according to a local outreach worker.
Dozens of homeless Indigenous people have died on the streets of Montreal since 2022. These tragedies are renewing calls for more supervised injection sites and increased resources for the unhoused.
