Ontario man guilty of decapitating mom can apply for parole in 13 years

Dallas Ly, the Ontario man guilty of killing and later decapitating his own mother was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday, after he was found guilty of second-degree murder. He was given no chance of parole for at least 13 years.
The judge in the case also issued a DNA order, and a life-time weapons ban for Dallas, while recommending he receives a psychiatric assessment, and referral to psychiatric programs while in prison.
In court, Ly, 23, argued he was suffering from PTSD after facing years of abuse from his mother.
As Global News crime specialist Catherine McDonald reports, the judge found that Ly initiated the attack on his mother Tien Ly and expressed no regret when he spoke in court about her death.
