October 4 2025 – Toronto / Queens Park – Every year during Nuit Blanche, a vibrant group of underground DJs gathers at Queen’s Park to play music and bring the community together through diverse sounds. This unsanctioned event has become one of those grassroots cultural moments that add rich layers to the city’s history and identity.
However, this year the event was shut down before it even began. Heavy police presence, flashing lights, and threats of arrest forced most DJs to leave. A few brave souls stayed on to play, but the spontaneous celebration was largely muted.
In this video, hear from the people who came to Queen’s Park to dance, connect, and keep the spirit of underground music alive despite the crackdown. This is a story about culture, community, and the challenges faced by unsanctioned events in the city.
I spoke with several attendees in the park that day, capturing their reactions to the crackdown and their thoughts on what this event means to the city’s cultural history. #nuitblanche #torontoculture #filmMission
