This testimony by the West African emcee, is just a piece of the eye-opening project, “Ruminations,” where LiMM illuminates his unyielding, most deepest thoughts about the institutional racism and unequal status of the African-American people within the United States of America, as well as the police brutality his community is continuously faced with. Still in this day and age, racism is very present and is illuminated on a quotidian basis. The most recent occurrences that have shocked the world, all stem from the misuse of power by the criminal justice system and police enforcement – those meant to serve and protect us, those meant to keep us safe within our own communities.
Here, LiMM is using his voice to express how he feels openly and firmly, giving no room for anyone to make any assumption about where he stands on the topic. This project reminds the African-American people and the rest of the world that there is still hope in changing the world, but it starts with us. Any evil can be beaten, if we can come together as one and put all our efforts behind the same cause. It’s about accepting the reality of the current state the country is in right now, expressing one’s opinions and speaking out against injustice, all while remaining persistent the whole step of the way.
